Fogarty Funding Opportunities for Health Research and Training Programs

The John E. Fogarty International Center (FIC) is dedicated to advancing the mission of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) by supporting and facilitating global health research conducted by U.S. and international investigators, building partnerships between health research institutions in the U.S. and abroad, and training the next generation of scientists to address global health needs.

The Fogarty International Center is part of the federal government of the United States and is the only arm of the National Institutes of Health whose sole mission is to support global health. It is one of the 27 component organizations of the NIH, which is in turn part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

On July 1, 1968 President Lyndon Johnson of the United States issued an Executive Order formally establishing the John E. Fogarty International Center for Advanced Study in the Health Sciences at the National Institutes of Health. It is headquartered at a central campus in Bethesda, Maryland, as well as funding research around the world.
